I really hope the downtown Post Office doesn’t go away, though they are threatening to sell it off.
It has these beautiful WPA murals by Carl Morris, who developed from here into a fine and famous abstract impressionist.
Like most abstract artists of the mid-20th century, he had plenty of non-abstract skills. Do painters still learn the basics before leaping off into abstractions? Or do they just head off without a map?
