Poetry Night at the Axe & Fiddle

Poetry Night at the Axe & Fiddle has that Northern Exposure feel. All the characters are there, and there’s lots of variety. Short stories, poems from dead poets and live ones, home made poems, dancing, drumming, singing, a sort of slightly focused open mic.

This time Dean arranged for a real old timey psychedelic light show with swirly colored liquids on overhead projectors by Michael, erstwhile Grateful Dead roadie. It went just right with his tale of being a hippy.

It was Robert Pinsky’s birthday, and I read his poem “Shirt” plus “Pockets” by Howard Nemerov and “Couture” by Mark Doty. Clothes poems all.

Any thoughts to share?
